My friend Robert in Colorado sent me these photos of the Hayman fire along with the following comments.

Back to my blog

These are scans of 35mm print taken from the top of Austin Bluffs which is in north Colorado Springs near my place.

View looking west with Pikes Peak on the left of the image. If your screen brightness is turned up enough you can see a wide thoroughfare at the bottom right of the photo. This is Garden of the Gods Road.

Colorado Hayman fire
View to South-Southwest with Cheyenne Mountain in the right middle of the frame. The white and light beige area to the left and just forground of the Mountain are buildings in downtown Colorado Springs. Areas of sunlight falling in this area are shafts coming through the clouds.

View to North-Northwest looking in the direction of Monument Colorado. You can see the smokey hues of the clouds pretty good in this photo.
